About N+Co.
The Necessarian + Company (N+Co.) is an independent, woman-owned, small-scale hybrid publisher that specializes in monographs and artist-authored titles.

N+Co. believes that the world is a better place when artists succeed, and we believe that a quality book can help them do that. We aim to demystify the publishing industry for artist-authors, including maintaining a policy of transparency around production costs.

N+Co. publishes books by first-time and seasoned artist-authors. We act as a responsive project manager and marketing partner relative to each book we publish. Instead of adhering to a singular visual style, N+Co. seeks out the best designer, printer, and binder for each book we publish, guided by the artist’s goals, aesthetic, and budget.

As a hybrid publisher, N+Co. relies on the artist-author to contribute at least 50% to the total costs of the book’s production and marketing.
Just like costs, our distribution is relative to each project, but we identify strategic ways to share publishing projects with the world. Currently we are not working with a major commerical distributor.
